Mr. Sankaran Subramanian is a Lead Assessor for Testing labs, PT Provider and Reference Material Producer for NABL. He has over 45 years of experience in testing labs which includes mechanical, chemical and analytical testing. He has undergone advanced training in the chemical (including analytical) and mechanical testing of textiles in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore and USA. The trainer has conducted over 100 training programs on lab QMS in India, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal, Kuwait and Libya. He has formal training on “PT Provider Lead Assessor as per ISO/IEC: 17043:2010” imparted by PTB Germany in April 2011, “RMP Lead Assessor training as per ISO 17034-2016” and three days training on “ISO/IEC 17025:2017 in March 2017 and has conducted training on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 QMS in 5 different places till date.
He has worked in different positions in the laboratories of Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India since 1972 till 2008. Retired as Joint Director (Laboratories) on 31st January 2008. Subsequently worked in a private testing-cum-calibration laboratory as Quality Manager and Technical Manager of textile testing as well as calibration for over six years. At present associated with BTRA, an accredited testing lab, calibration lab and accredited Proficiency Testing Provider for mechanical, chemical including analytical tests.
Documented and implemented a management system for PT Provider as per ISO/IEC Guide 43-1 and ILAC G:13 in the laboratory of Textiles Committee, Mumbai and organized a PT program among 60 plus textile testing laboratories in India, Srilanka and Bangladesh covering 12 mechanical tests and 12 chemical tests in 2007. Subsequently, implemented PTP QMS in BTRA Mumbai and conducted as many as 9 PT programs since 2018 in mechanical, chemical and analytical tests.
Documented and implemented laboratory QMS as per ISO/IEC 17025 in 14 laboratories of Textiles Committee (located at different centers in India) which are accredited by the NABL.
Conducted 650 plus assessments on behalf of NABL since 1998. This includes almost all the textile laboratories accredited by NABL in India, Srilanka, Jordan and Bangladesh. Also conducted assessments of over 25 NABL accredited PT Providers as per ISO/IEC 17043 and over 7 NABL accredited RMPs as per ISO/IEC 17034/ ISO Guide 34. As the Quality Manager of laboratories of Textiles Committee and Reliable Analytical Laboratories faced as many as 100 plus NABL assessments.
Conducted training on Laboratory QMS as per ISO/IEC 17025 & Measurement Uncertainty in over 60 NABL accredited laboratories in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bangladesh. This includes five 5 days LA training conducted for NABL for potential NABL Assessors as per the 2017 version of the standard ISO/IEC 17025.
Also conducted as many as 30 five days Laboratory Assessor training on behalf of NABL on ISO/IEC 17025 and 2 five days PTP Assessor training on behalf of NABL ISO/IEC 17043:2010.
As UNIDO expert imparted training and provided guidance to textile testing laboratories in Libya, Ghana, Nepal and Bangladesh for accreditation of textile testing laboratories. He has given guidance to over 25 testing laboratories for getting accredited by NABL as per ISO/IEC 17025.
